Lori Hathon

Biography

Lori Hathon received a BSc with honors in Geological Sciences in 1984 from Michigan State University and a PhD in Sedimentary Petrology in 1992 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She joined Amoco Production Company working assignments in well site operations, East Africa Regional Studies, and Exploration on Australia’s North West Shelf. Subsequently, she joined Amoco’s Exploration and Production Technology Group working on thermal maturity studies and reservoir quality prediction. After 6 years with Amoco, she joined Shell International E&P where she spent around 20 years in their research organization. Her research interests include forward modeling of rock properties, the compressibility of unconsolidated sands and the prediction of rock properties from thin section and micro-CT data (digital rock physics).

After 26 years of industry experience she moved to the University of Houston where she is an Assistant Professor.
